Swiss MD-11 has become an icon for this type of aircraft. It used to operate the largest passenger MD-11 fleet in the world. However it also takes the worst MD-11 air disaster of this type. A fire caused by the overheating of the inflight entertainment system destroyed a Swiss MD-11 in Halifax Canada and killing all on board. Ever since, this famous bird has been gradually retired and replaced by various airbus model. However, this legendary Tribird will continue to live in the heart of the collector. It continues its secondary life as a workhorse for the major freight forwarding company such as Fedex and UPS.
